Notes from the sickbed

Here I am, SICK. Some sort of tonsil issue. Unfun.

Spent the day watching episodes of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" via Youtube and an S-Video cable we use here at my homestead to connect the computer to the television since we are without "cable" or "direct TV" or any of those notions.

Also spent the day sending out all existing orders made for shirts on this website. Let me say a continual and sincere "thank you" to all of you who have offered us your money over the past few weeks. Don't know if you've heard, but the economy isn't doing so well and it's spending like yours that is vital to making sure the wheels of recovery keep spinning. Obama would be proud!

We are going to continue to offer some goods to the right and will be adding a few more things shortly. Or "shortly." Keep checking for new supplies if the ubiquitous repeat logo shirt bores you to death or if you aren't very much interested in purchasing music we released two plus years ago.

To remedy that last situation, we are continuing our efforts in the studio. Recording is on a steady path to occurring in the coming weeks. We are all very excited. Sixteen songs have been loaded up on the slate for production and they are "doozies," if I do say so myself. It is a record influenced by such things as:

c) Propagandhi's new record!
d) Neko Case's new record!
f) so-called "execution tapes"
g) various ideas gleaned from 89.3 KPCC
h) this amazing article by Stephen Elliott
j) "purchasing" Van Ban at Fresh & Easy

I also watched Roman Polanski's "Chinatown" for the first time today. I feel confident in endorsing it. That is where the whole "How 'bout them apples?" line comes from. Didn't know that.

Here are some band-related goodies for you:

a) we have some pictures up now on a Flickr account. Enjoy.

b) new shows:
1) May 2 in Berkeley, CA @ 924 Gilman Street
2) May 22-24 in Tacoma, WA @ the Viaduct for Rainfest 2009.

c) here is an interview I did a year ago with KSPC's Troy Kokkinis. We should be doing a live set with him this spring!

Less sick now, but closer to death,

Das Kapitalistisch Venture

Guten tag!

Because we are now trying to fund a record, we are now selling our own merchandise. To the right you will see two little buttons that say "add to cart." Think of these buttons as a gateway to happiness, especially if your happiness is dependent on a) owning your very own DANGERS paraphernalia and/or b) putting money in our dismally ragtag wallets. Up on the auction block are: a) our full-length record "Anger" in compact disc format and b) our (stereotypical) repeat logo t-shirt. Purchase at your own risk and be patient. Your stuff will get to you as soon as we have a moment to visit the post office.

Also, another show to tell you about:

Saturday February 7
@ 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, CA
w/ Graf Orlock, Lewd Acts, Acts of Sedition, and Millions of Dead Comps

We'll have new shirts there for you to purchase.

Also, we'll be playing at this year's Rain Festival in Tacoma, WA on May 22/23 ish.

Also, Justin plays guitar for us now.
Also, keep emailing us if you want us to play your city!
We are going to do some sick touring after the new record comes out.
Speaking of which, we have begun recording.
Here are some new song titles:

Cure For Cancer
Cure For AIDS
Tarantula Type
Bottom of the 9th Ward

Listen(ed) to the new Trap Them record!

Wreckless Carbon Footprints

We have decided to come out of our impermeable candy-coated shell for a few more shows. They shall include most of the following: new songs, old songs, gratuitous shirtlessness, beautiful merchandise, beards, long winded-ness, (homo-/hetero-/bi-/trans-)sexual positive attitudes, Ghostlimb, Comadre, and Portraits of Past (a reunion show of sorts)! Here are further details circa proper chronology:

Saturday December 27, 2008
@The Smell (247 S. Main Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012)
with: Portraits of Past, Drowning With Our Anchors, and Glaciers
9pm / $5
www.thesmell.org

Friday January 2, 2009
@Chinatown Youth Center (901 "F" Street, Fresno, CA)
with: Comadre, Ghostlimb, and others

Saturday January 3, 2009
@The Hickey Underworld House (1166 Magnolia Avenue, Long Beach, CA)
with: Comadre, Ghostlimb, and others

Sunday January 4, 2009
@The Pharaoh's Den (579 University Avenue, Riverside, CA)
with: Comadre, Ghostlimb, and others

Spread the word to as many gentiles as you can (non-gentiles also welcome, begrudgingly). Speaking of which: recently bought The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. He made a "program" for the BBC called "The Root of Evil," of which the first part is viewable below.

We'd like to remind you to head to Hellfish to buy our merchandise.
Or RevHQ.

We'd also like to encourage you to invite us to your city to play. We will be gearing up for some touring after the new record comes out. We'd like especially to play in foreign towns like Frankfurt and Barcelona. And Melbourne. And Tokyo. If you can make that happen, let us know via email: wearedangers@gmail.com

East Coast Show

We did not play our last show yet.
In fact, we've got another lined up for the month of November.
Here is the info:

That's right! We are playing in Vermont. Our good friend Ryan (who plays in the band Unrestrained) asked us to come out for the show and we were very happy to oblige. The show benefits youths in the area. It's being put on by a nonprofit called Big Heavy World. So that we are completely transparent: we are being flown out for this show and playing for free. The chance of our trip being worth the carbon imprint on the Earth is slim to none. The challenge is for all of you to come out to prove us wrong.

There have been loads of you writing to ask us to come play your city/town/province/etc. Keep doing it! Some of you are even from the east coast. It's very nice to know you'd like to see us. For now, this Indiecon show is about as close as we are going to be able to come. Hopefully some of you will find it worth the trek. We can't promise to pay for your gas, but we can promise to make some merch or something that you can put on eBay and maybe that will work.

We are still writing the album.
It gets grimmer by the day.

We'll post some videos from the shows up north a few weeks ago.

For now, here are some photos you guys stole of our likenesses. If you want credit, start sending us some of the files, dawgs:

Today I read this which is by Deb Olin Unferth.

We do not run the myspace which operates under our moniker,
